A few months ago you may have read my ‘Send in the Clowns’ post. My baby (now 13 months old) needed an endoscopy and the hospital sent a medical clown to entertain him in the waiting room.
The results from that test are in. The doctors don’t think celiac is the problem However …something isn’t quite right. Without all the details, we need to remove soy from the baby’s diet to see if this fixes the problem. The little guy has already been dairy-free since birth. His formula is non-dairy/non-soy, but now we need to be vigilant about soy to see if that alleviates his tummy troubles.I didn’t think we were giving him soy, but unbeknownst to us, he has. It seems to be hidden in places I’d never think to find it such as spices, tuna, and bread. Why on earth would there be soy in spices???
Since he inadvertently has been ingesting it, we are now the Food Police in regards to reading labels. It’s like looking for Waldo on a crowded page, but instead of Waldo, I’m looking for the word סויה. Perhaps I should declutter my pantry. It’s almost Pesach..out with the chometz and out with the soy?
We are on the 5th day of this diet. There is already noticeable improvement observed when we change his diapers. (TMI, sorry).
I don’t yet have any Pearls of Wisdom to share in regards to food allergies/ sensitivities. If any of you reading do, please share, as knowledge is power and I need all the information I can get.
Last week I wrote about speed cleaning for Shabbos. I’m off to do that now. Shabbat shalom. Thanks for reading.
