I have discovered smoothies are an easy way to get fruits and vegetables into my family. I haven’t figured out what the appeal of a straw inserted into a drink is but if I works, so be it.
The trick to make my smoothies kid-friendly is the proportion of sweet to non-sweet. I also make our smoothies dairy and soy free because I’ve got a little one who’s allergic to those ingredients. My base liquid is water but on occasion will add a little rice milk or juice.
Our favorite smoothie is peanut butter banana. Although this one doesn’t have vegetable it’s still full of nutrition and scrumptious.
This week I had a bit of fun creating some interesting combinations. As long as the end result was sweet, the smoothie was guzzled down regardless of the ingredients.
This smoothie is banana, peach, cucumber.
This one is apples and leftover bagged salad (lettuce, shredded carrots, and cabbage) with apple concentrate for a little extra sweetness.
Here is avocado, cucumber, and date paste. This one has a creamy thick consistency like pudding, so eat this one with a spoon. If you add cocoa powder for brown color it looks like chocolate pudding.
So, have some kreative kitchen fun of your own and feel free to komment which koncontions you kreate. Happy kombining.
