Friday Mussing: Mixmatched Socks and Reusable Bags

I should be in the kitchen cooking for Shabbos.  I should not be writing a blog post, however I had two moments of organizing inspiration today. The need to share is overtaking the logic of prioritizing what I should be doing.

Socks:  I have come to the conclusion that mixmatched socks are a fact of life.  I have also come to the conclusion that after good faith attempts of trying to find the lost match and the frustration the frustration factor isn’t worth it.  Socks are inexpensive and the probability is you may spend more on a latte.  Throw the socks out.  The sock police nor the recycle police will NOT come after you.  “What if I find the matching sock the next day?”.  You have a new dust mitt.  Or chuck it. FYI the featured image in this post is the pile on my floor, not a stock image.

Reusable shopping bags:  I love them and am always finding new uses for them.  Generally, I head to the store armed with my stash of bags.  Today I didn’t.  Since the groceries were heavy I decided to buy some more bags. Either I was going to get charged per plastic bag or invest in reusable ones.

I had started my shopping day hoping to find some decent laundry baskets, but as fate had it we needed to track down a restroom, reversing my route.  By the time we got to the checkout at the grocery I was too hot and too weighed down to go back to the first store, so we hopped the next bus and headed home.

As as stared at the rectangular shape of the bags, I had the brilliant idea of re-purposing these bags as laundry baskets.  Not only were they less expensive than baskets I had priced out, but they were more durable.  I can sort everyone’s laundry into the bags and my newly folded (or not) piles will not get knocked over.

I will go into this Shabbos with paired socks and sorted laundry.  And yes, I got my cooking done, too.

Thanks for reading.
