The Klutter Koach’s Daily Home Organizing Challenge

I’ve had many people ask me for a daily home organizing challenge.  I happily complied and have been posting them on my Facebook page. Then it dawned on me not all Klutter Koach followers are on Facebook.  Hence, I will post the challenges here.  Each one takes 15 minutes or less.

I practice what I preach so I am also doing the challenge right along with you. Here is what we’ve done thus far:

August 10:  The Purge Purge

Empty out that purse, bag, or backpack. Throw out trash, put non-necessary items where they belong, refill the bag, and you’re good to go.  *I was inspired to create this challenge as the first one after finding a wet towel and bathing suit in my son’s camp bag.  It was starting to get that moldy-mildewy odor typical of wet clothes that have been sitting around.  Ewww.  I didn’t want have a repeat performance or another yucky towel go undiscovered. I wanted to save everyone else from a similar situation.

August 12: Shampoo Bottles
The bathroom small be a small room, yet there are multiple areas to organize. Today’s challenge is to consolidate, pare down, and get rid of empty bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Tip: Pour from squeeze bottles into pump bottles for easy use and less mess.

August 13: The sock drawer.

Remove any tights, stocking, and socks with holes, rips, or snags. Toss socks without a match. You’ve probably given a good faith effort to find the pair. Only you know you’re wearing an imperfect pair.  However, imagine this scenario: you’re at the mall to try on shoes.  You remove your shoe and much to your horror realized you have exposed your holey sock for all to see.  Avoid the embarrassment now by throwing out those socks. August 14: The Underwear Drawer. Chuck those uncomfortable, stained, stretched-out, or wedgie-inducing panties. We all know those “spare” pairs in the back of the drawer are really ones we hate to wear so get rid of them. Treat yourself to a few new pairs.  You’ll feel prettier if you’re sporting some nice undies (even if you are the only one who knows).

August 15:  Dental Care Products. Pare down on multiples, replace toothbrushes that have icky bristles, open a new tube of toothpaste if you’ve come to the end of the tube.

That’s all for now.  I have good intentions of writing a daily challenge, but life gets in the way.  You can always create your own challenge or hook up with FlyLady who has different weekly zones of the house and a daily mission for each one.

Every time you de-clutter a bit you will start to feel lighter and more in control of your environment.
