Are you one of the multitude who’ve hopped on the downsizing bandwagon and purged your closet keeping only what sparks joy? The Konmari craze of decluttering exploded worldwide with Netfix’s show Tidying Up With Marie Kondo. If you have been busy downsizing your belongings, have you taken the next step of getting rid of them?
If there are piles of discarded items ready to be removed I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to schedule a pickup from a charitable organization or plan a drop-off. If you don’t, the things you so diligently wanted to get rid of may end up back in the closet or sit in piles for posterity. DON’T DELAY!
I’ve been organizing clients long before the Neflix series or Kondo’s book came out. I know from experience that if the downsized items are not removed IMMEDIATELY there is the risk of them never leaving. Compare it to a relationship that has ended. If the door remains open a crack there will not be closure. You’ve worked hard at trying to free up your life, your space, your home, take the next step and don’t look back.
Part of my service to clients is re-moving the items for them. Here are some photos of items that clients downsized.

Remember these steps:
- downsize/ de-clutter
- organize
- immediately re-home/donate/purge
Finish what you start by doing the last step and then enjoy your newly freed up space. Thanks for reading,
Karen, T.K.K.
