Playroom Makeover: Before & After

Have you ever heard that the saying  that things often get worse before things get better? Think: childbirth.  Think: Kitchen in the midst of being turned over for Passover.  When you are in the middle of either of these scenarios (and hopefully not overlapping!) the stress and agony seem like they’ll never end, but they do.  Presto-a baby! or Voila-a Kosher for Passover kitchen!

I will break it to you gently…tackling an organizing project may have similar emotions especially when things feel overwhelming.   For birth, many opt for a doula.  For Pesach, extra help (hopefully!).  Slaying a monster (aka a room that overwhelms us), a home organizer, which in this case is Yours Truly.

In most of my organizing sessions I take before and after photos which I share with the client.  Sometimes I’m granted permission to share publicly.  Last week I worked with a client who insisted on BEFORE, MIDDLE, and AFTER PICTURES and wanted me to share them. Here there are. Pictures say more than words.  Which one(s) are you screaming Ahhhhhrrrggg!!!! and which bring a sigh of relief, a deep cleansing breath, and Ahhhh!

MIDDLE-When the room looks like this most people will express “Ahhhh!!!! I’m overwhelmed.  I want to quit!”  Klutter Koach says:  Take a break.  Get a coffee/drink and trust me we are progressing in the right direction.

MIDDLE-Sorting and categorizing.  Consolidating all those itty-bitty Playmobil pieces (G-d forbid one should get thrown out because we all know what they cost!), putting like items together, etc.  A notable mention to Kosher Casual for my favorite shirt and skirt.

MIDDLE-Almost finished.  The major sorting is done.  Odds and ends are remaining.

AFTER #1-Yes, this is the same room.

AFTER #3

Quite a transformation, isn’t it? 3 hours, 15 minutes.  We did some sorting in another room where we had moved the desk seen in one of the Before photos.  Total =4 hours.

Yes, you can give birth on your own.  Yes, you can turn over a kitchen for Pesach on your own.  You can organize on your own, too, but do you want to?

Thanks for reading.
