How much time does it take to clean a fridge?

On Monday G-d decided that I was to have a vacation day.  Not vacation like ‘hey I’d like you to go sit on a beach and soak up some rays’, but ‘hey I’m not sending you a client today-I have other things planned for you.’  Hence, with all the kids not home it was the perfect day to get a jump on my Pesach cleaning. I decided to tackle the refrigerators.  Yes, that is plural. We have two.

Many families have one refrigerator and often an extra freezer.  We have two refrigerators because in Israel you buy your appliances, even as a renter.  Our current apartment came partially furnished including a fridge plus we had a fridge from our previous apartment, hence 1 + 1 =2.  I’m really into using the word ‘hence’ today…please forgive me for the repetition.

Bottom line, it took me approximately two hours to clean each refrigerator, hence 2+2=4 hours. Cleaning involved removing each glass shelf, pull-out drawer, and all the removable shelves in the door.  The rubber seal around the door was filthy with crumbs +shmutz and involved time intensive cleaning with a q-tip.

If your fridge is really filthy or there is a lot of containers to be removed it could take longer than two hours.  If you are super speedy in your cleaning than is could take less. In any event, I’ve provided an approximation of how much time to set aside for the task.

Thanks for reading and happy cleaning.  Chag kasher v’sameach.

Method = A combination of Marie Kondo + FlyLady + my own style. YOU make the decisions. YOU decide what to keep and not to keep. I help provide clarity. Attitude = Positive, enthusiastic, non-judgmental
